Q. Do I need to do all of the required 50 hours supervised driving with a professional instructor? A. No, any qualified driver ie. with full Drivers licence for a minimum of 2yrs, may be your Supervising Driver and fill out your Driving Log.

Q. What is VORT? A. VORT (Vehicle on Road Test) is a once off test that may be attempted at any stage by a holder of a SA learner driver's permit, or a Section 80 (international conversion).

Q. What is better, Log Book or VORT? A. This will depend on the individual. Log Book Training is competency based training and as such, it is designed to build upon and link newly acquired competencies towards your final drive (Task30). Log Book training is far less stressful and more complete in the skill level achieved. VORT has a high first time failure rate (due mainly to clients believing they are ready, when they aren't yet up to standard) and the test itself can be quite stressfull for the client. VORT would normally suit someone with a high level of experience and/or in excess of 50 hours of supervised driving/tuition.

Q. How many lessons will I need to get my licence? A. This is very much an individual thing, as we all learn at different levels/rates. The key is to get as much practice as you can, Remember, "Practice makes Perfect".

Q. Can anyone sit in on my lessons with an instructor? A. Yes, in fact at BE ROAD WISE! we actively encourage your Supervising Driver/s (Mum/Dad etc) to attend as many lessons as they would like. This will help to reinforce the instructors training when you practice your driving outside of lessons.

Q What would happen if I were to be stopped by Police for breaking a road law? A. Well of course this wouldn't happen during a lesson with BE ROAD WISE!, but if you were to breach Road Law during a lesson or with your Supervising Driver, then you are liable for any fines etc incurred.

Q. If I am disqualified from holding either my Learners or my Provisional licence, what will happen? A. Under an initiative by the SA government, if you are disqualified during these periods your licence will regress. That means you will LOOSE YOUR LICENCE. Disqualification of a Learners Permit; Re sit your Theory Test and must hold your learners permit for 9 months instead of 6. Disqualification of P1; you need to re-apply for a Learners Permit (no Theory Test) then pass a Practicle Driving Test again. Disqualification of P2; Re-issued with a P1 Licence then resitting the Hazard Perception Test.

Q. Can Mum or Dad take me through the Log Book? A. Yes, but only a government Accredited MDI (Motor vehicle Driving Instructor) can sign off the competencies in the Log Book.

Q. How soon should I start lessons?

A. As soon as you have your Learners Permit, especially if you or Mum or Dad are nervous about you driving! Remember that all of the time taken for Professional tuition count towards your 50 hours of supervised driving and that you definitely DO NOT have to have your 50 hours up before starting with an instructor!
